Approximately two-thirds of all full-time undergraduate students receive grant aid. There are many resources to help your family afford college for your child, including federal and state governments, universities, corporations, and private individuals and organizations. You can find a way! Here are some resources to get you started:

  • High School Counselor
Meet with your child's high school counselor and ask about local sources of financial aid, such as scholarships for families living in your town, county, or state.
  • Public Library
Go to the college aid section of your local public library. Ask the librarian to help you find local sources of funding.
  • Internet
Search online for financial aid and scholarship resources, including www.collegeboard.com, www.finaid.org, http://studentaid.ed.gov, among many others.
  • Membership Organizations
Don't forget to explore church resources, community service organizations like the Rotary Club, and military, union, and professional organizations.
  • National Scholarships
ROTC, National Merit, Gates Millennium, Intel Science, Coca-Cola, and Robert Byrd, and HSF scholarships are just a few examples.
  • Employers
Many companies will help their employees pay for children's college education, including fast-food chains, department stores, and supermarkets.
  • Colleges and Universities
The college your child wants to attend probably has financial aid programs. Just ask.
  • Family
Family members can help, too. Don't be afraid to ask.
